Strange Demo Painting

I had some fun today working on an odd demo painting for some painting classes I'll be teaching to teenagers at the MFA. The project involves finding inspiration from the African art in the collection and creating a combination of elements from the sculptures. The students use a monochromatic palette of black, white and one color of their choice. Something I'm trying to focus on for the project is creating depth through lower and higher contrast and having a foreground, middle and back. Below is an animation of the sequence.
